  • "Pank, Pank"

You may or may not agree with spanking, but we do spank our boys when they're being deliberately defiant or if it's a safety issue that we've told them about before.  Connor has been playing with a doll lately, taking off the clothes, and carrying it around the house with him.  We had an interesting conversation today...

Connor laid the baby on the couch on it's tummy and starting "spanking" it.  I asked, "Was the baby naughty?"  He nodded his head.  I asked, "What did the baby do?"  He said, "Hit Brayden."  I said, "Well, that wasn't very nice."  Then Brayden walked into the room.  Connor lifted up the baby to Brayden and said, "Sorry, Brayden."

So, they do get what we're trying to tell them!!!

  • Stay, Bear

Connor is a typical first-born, I guess...even though it's only by 1 minute.  He is now into "bossing" around his stuffed bear and his brother.   Here are a few instances of many in the last week.

We do not let the boys take their bear blankets out of the house unless we're spending the night somewhere.  We were all heading outside the other night, so I asked Connor to leave his bear in the house.  He threw set his bear down on the step and said, "Stay, Bear!".

Tonight, the boys had been told several times by Jeremy to sit down in the tub (they like to stand up and sit down with a splash...creating a huge mess).  Jeremy looked over and saw Brayden standing up, but before he could say anything Connor reached up and took ahold of Brayden's waist, said "Sit, Bray", and pulled him down into the tub.

Connor has also started telling me where to go and what I need to do.  Often, when Jeremy is taking them outside Connor will say "Come, Mommy" and motion with his hand.  He also likes to tell me to take a drink of water whenever he sees my bottle or cup of water laying around.

  • Gotcha, Mommy!

Our house has gone from funny to hysterical over the past couple of months.  I'm always wondering what the boys are going to come up with.

A few days ago, Brayden looked like he needed a hug.  He does this every so often...standing right in front of me and just looks sad.  If I give him just a minute of my attention, he's absolutely fine.  So, I gave him a hug.  Then, Connor looked over at me, pleading-like.  I went over and gave him a big hug...He got this big grin on his face and said "Gotcha, Mommy!"  I started laughing and he proceeded to repeat it for about 10 minutes.  Very funny!

We might also be getting a little closer to starting to potty-train the boys.  Last night I went for a walk and when I got back Jeremy had a big smile on his face.  He said Connor came in to the room, went up to him, and said "Daddy, Connor stinky."  Typically, he just goes and climbs up on the changing table without saying a word.  It was progress to actually have him tell Jeremy.  Jeremy was very proud when I got home.

Another joy of having twins...and developing at pretty much the same rate happens at the park all the time.  It's amazing how often they switch personalities.  Last week, Brayden was terrified of going down the "fast" slide.  He just wouldn't do it unless I was helping him at the top (Connor would "catch" him at the bottom...and yes, this actually worked).  Connor was going down the slide every time.  This week, Brayden is zooming right down and Connor is terrified.  Weird!

Here's a picture of the boys inspecting the bottom of the pickup with Daddy.

  • Boys will be Boys

This entry is all about passing gas...just a warning!

Jeremy was rather *hmmm* gassy tonight.  He brought the boys in from the backyard and we were all watching American Idol.  Next thing I know, I hear him pass some gas.  Connor looked at me and said "stinky", then "poopy".  Jeremy and I were rolling!  Of course Connor was rather pround of himself and laughed right along with us.  I guess the boys are learning to be boys very early in life.  LOL

Meanwhile, Brayden was busy watching the people sing on TV and didn't seem to hear a thing.  Another typical male.
